In China, ByteDance is under heavy pressure from the US President, Donald Trump, who is tough on Chinese businesses and even TikTok assets in the US have to be divested due to national security threats.īyteDance also confirmed that it was not a security threat and continued to deny the allegations. With more than half a billion daily users on the platform, Douyin has officially joined Alipay and WeChat Pay, which are the payment platforms that are available today.īyteDance itself gained a foothold in payment services in China when its founder and CEO Zhang Yiming acquired Wuhan Hezhong Yibao Technology Co in 2020.Īt the time of the acquisition, Hezhong Yibao turned out to have had a third-party payment license from the Central Bank of China since 2014. In an official statement, Douyin said that Douyin Pay will complement the existing payment options while working to build a superior customer experience for users of alternative payment platforms. This move is considered a good step forward as it continues to expand into previously uncharted territory in the e-commerce business segment of the Chinese market. In his country, TikTok is better known as Douyin. Experts projected that Douyins user base in the Chinese market would very likely surpass 835 million by 2025. It is very simple, it basically saves mtcars dataframe as a csv with the timestamp as name. In my case I have created a script called Automatizar_mtcars.R. Example of how to automate an R script in Windows If you need to load o you will save files, it is very important to correctly define the whole path of those files, as when automate the script, the working directory of the script will change. IMPORTANT: the script that we want to automate should always be self-executable, that is, the script does not requiere any human action to work or any other libraries that the ones loaded on the script itself. Schedule: how often do you want that Script to be executed: once a month, a week, a day, every hour, every minute, every time a user accesses the computer, etc.Rscript repo: this is the folder where the automation logs will be saved.Choose your RScript: you should choose the R script that you want to automate.Any way, I will explain you what you should do: Either way, a window like this will open:Īs you can see this is a very intuitive interface. You can also find it on the Addins section in the top bar. To open the adding execute the following code: taskscheduleR:::taskschedulerAddin(). If you don’t know RStudio Addins, this is a good moment for you to learn ) One of the good things of this package is that it includes an Addin that will help us to automate our scripts in R. So, first we will download and install the library. In Windows we will use taskscheduleR library to automate scripts. That being said, ¡let’s begin by learning how to automate R scripts in Windows! How to automate R Scripts in Windows Initial steps on automating an R script in Windows But, if it is important, I would rather recommend you to automate the script on the cloud, whether with Cloud Build or building your own virtual machine. If the task is not super important it is ok to have it in your computer. Reliability: to automate a script on your computer might not be the best in all scenarios. But don’t worry on this post I will show you have to automate a script for both Windows and Mac users ) The Operative System: depending which OS you have the way you automate a script will change.Sounds great right? So let’s learn how to automate a script in R! Previous Stepsīefore we begin to code we need to take two things into consideration: To learn how to automate scripts in R will avoid you from doing such tasks or even better it will enable you to help your company reduce costs., making you more valuable. In fact, according to this study we spend 552 hours a yers doing repetitive tasks. To run a script on your computer or tu build a Shiny App so that other people can see your analysis is ok, but if that’s your situation, you are missing one of the most important things as a Data Scientist: how to automate scripts (in this case in R). Watch out for minecarts on the tracks - they do a lot of damage if they hit you! Go in when there's no cooldown on your health potion to defeat the mob spawner as quickly as possible, or you could decide to try and run past it. They have a lot of HP and constantly spawn mobs around you. This is the only mission where you will encounter mob spawners. It can be easy to miss, depending on how the mission has spawned. If you have your map overlay open, you should see a chest. They flinch often, so melee seems to be the best option here.Ī little bit after the cave you'll enter a large stone area. They will teleport around you to try and damage you from behind, but are fairly easy to defeat. When you enter the cave you may encounter an Enderman. When you have the 'Destroy the brews' task, don't forget to collect the emeralds that drop when you destroy each brew! Stay out of the pink/purple gas cloud as these do a fair amount of damage over time. You'll also encounter Witches, who throw poison potions at you. You'll also encounter Slimes, which spawn multiple smaller Slimes when defeated, which then spawn even more smaller Slimes when defeated. You'll encounter Baby Zombies, which move very fast but are easy to defeat. There are a couple of hidden chests on small islands you can roll to. After defeating the Evoker, a gate will unlock for you to complete the mission.ĭon't roll/fall into the swamp on this mission, as you will die. Alternatively, keep your range and use your bow. If you are using melee to defeat the Evoker, when they raise their hands dodge to the side to avoid the traps. Evokers summon a chain of bear traps in front of them which do a considerable amount of damage. When you defeat the last wave of the raid, an Evoker will spawn. Try to defeat the Enchanters first, as they are quite powerful. They enchant nearby enemies to buff them in different ways. You'll also encounter Enchanters here if you haven't already. At the end of the mission you will ring the warning bell and a raid will trigger. There are water bugs that douse your flames, spiders that spit out bridges of silk to connect separated rope sections, electric bugs that start up new fires when their partners are torched and more. There are exploding bugs that set off firestarting blasts in a circular impact area when you touch them with your fire. There are colored bugs that change the hue of your flame when you burn them up, which is then used as a puzzle element when colored ropes show up and are only affected by flames of the same type – so you've got to kill that blue bug before you can burn that blue rope. Each one alters the gameplay in a unique way. And the game ends up adding lots of extra complexity beyond just its paths of rope, too, with the presence of the bugs that Wickman so greatly delights in immolating. The level designs are inventive, with ropes laid out in intricate patterns that serve the double purpose of being both interesting to look at and challenging to try to navigate without your fire going out. The playfulness of Wickman shines through – you can't help but smile at his celebratory dances. The game itself, thankfully, is still fun even amidst those issues. And the price, which is ridiculously inflated to a full ten dollars in the Wii Shop when the game would only run you 99 cents in the App Store (or even nothing at all, if you downloaded the free-to-play Lite version available there).Ī firebug explodes, igniting all surrounding strands. Like the graphics, which don't look nearly as sharp and attractive blown up on a TV outputting 480p as they do on the handheld Retina. What's worse, once you begin to make the iPhone comparison several other parts of this download start to look questionable too. There's not even any support for motion control with the Wii Remote, which potentially could have approximated the action with left and right twists. But I'm not sure that it's a shift for the better – that tangible action of having to rotate an actual object in your hands was part of the game's original appeal, and that aspect is lost here. The shift in how the game is presented makes sense, of course, since you wouldn't be able to physically spin your television around. In those editions, the gameplay demanded that you physically tilt and turn your iDevice in circles in your hands – the rope pattern itself would stay locked in the same position, it was just your view of that position that changed. Like so many Nintendo downloads these days, this game first came to Apple's iPhone and iPad and is only now being ported to Wii. This is a change from Burn the Rope's original incarnation. One thing I found out is that characters have to be managed manually - there is no AI that helps control your character, such as in games like The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim or Fallout: New Vegas. It also has a “half speed” mode, which will allow players to engage in combat at a slower speed (but still in real-time) should they find the normal speed challenging. It can be quite challenging to manage a whole party of characters, but PoE includes a pause system so that players can have extra time to issue orders. On the other hand, some may find that this concept diminishes replayability.Įverything in PoE is played in real time, including combat. Certain players may find this appealing, as it adds to the difficulty and challenge of the game. For players of modern RPGs, this means that there will be almost no “farming” to be done. Foes in PoE also do not respawn, as they yield no experience anyway. Engagement is often not the only cause of death other dangers may be also present.Ĭharacter development can feel slow and unrewarding to some, as characters have 12 levels and will only gain experience points through exploring, completing quests and slaying enough of certain types of foes. One lesson that I’ve learnt is to save often, as losing a battle sequence will require you to load an earlier save.Īlso note that characters that fall in combat will be killed off permanently if further damaged in higher difficulties, characters falling in combat will mean permanent death to party characters. Even while playing at “Normal” difficulty, players might find it challenging to journey through the world of PoE. PoE can tend to surprise even experienced gamers, as party management turns out to be especially important in combat. Players with colour vision deficiencies will also be happy to know that there is a “colorblind mode” included in the settings. The effects and particles of combat animations and spells are beautiful. That said, the graphics of PoE provides players with a sense that they are playing something classic, yet polished with the standards of modern gaming. This might appeal to some, but those who are not able to rotate their angle of viewing may find this less-than-desirable. It could also be a source of frustration at times, such as when a tree or wall is blocking your view of the map. PoE also uses the isometric view present in classic RPGs. To help new players get oriented, there are plenty of guides and hints that appear throughout the game. PoE’s concept is that every choice a player makes will affect them in one way or another - be it how non-player characters (NPCs) respond to you, or the outcome of certain quests. Players will notice that the main aspect of the game is its story, and this is particularly evident as we find that many conversations are narrated. One thing to note, however, is that options for changing a character’s facial looks are quite limited. They can also affect your character’s starting stats. This is something that many games don’t provide, and which gamers only learn after creating their characters or checking online guides.Īpart from character stats, there are also different races, sub-races and a number of other choices which give your characters unique looks and features. Many of the character stats are explained in detail during character creation, and you can check them by simply hovering your mouse over the highlighted words. I spent about an hour fine-tuning my character in every way possible, since, as every gamer knows, your choices affect the stats of your character. Before The Journey: Character CreationĬharacter creation is an important aspect of many RPGs, and I particularly love PoE’s character creation system. And Pillars of Eternity is one of those games that you will enjoy if you love classic RPGs. Many will know Obsidian Entertainment from their previous developments of many other games, notably Fallout: New Vegas and South Park: The Stick of Truth. Before you write it off as being just another game, however, know this: it was crowdfunded on Kickstarter, and received overwhelming response - they went way beyond their original goal of 1 million, raising around 3.9 million by the end of the funding period. Pillars of Eternity is a role-playing game (RPG) developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Paradox Interactive. Two new badges were added, as well as the existing badges receiving a visual makeover. This time around, badges appeared to have gotten a well-needed refresh, most likely to be more in line with their ongoing efforts to modernize the Roblox website. Since the initial release, things had been pretty quiet and the badge lineup remained the same until late 2014, when a blog post Two New ROBLOX Badges (and a New Look) Arrive, authored by blockhaak, was published on the Roblox blog. You can read more about these badges on the official Roblox Badges page. Mainly exclusive to official Roblox employees, work for the Roblox Corporation. Alongside Combat Initiation and Warrior, this badge is no longer obtainable. As with Combat Initiation, this badge is no longer obtainable for the same reason. Score 100 or more knockouts against an enemy. This badge is no longer obtainable with the discontinuation of the legacy knockout/wipeout system. There were a few more added after the initial release such as Inviter and Ambassador, however those have come to be discontinued not too long after their respective releases. The badge lineup at the time of release mainly consisted of combat badges (knockout/wipeout-centric), developer badges (achieving 100 and 1,000 place visits) and a singular social badge (friendship, having 20 friends). It was stated that badges were released onto the site earlier than intended and was quickly taken offline due to the interest of said new feature skyrocketing Roblox website traffic and crashing the site momentarily (sounds very familiar in this day and age □). The day was December 22nd 2006 (just 3 days before Christmas!) and a new blog post ROBLOX Badges, authored by none other than David Baszucki, had appeared on the Roblox blog.īy now, you already know what it’s going to be about - the grand release of badges! However, I’ll give you a quick rundown of the situation at hand. In this article, we’ll be taking a look at the brief history of badges, some that have never been seen before, what the community has done to try to resuscitate the beloved feature as well as what the future holds for badges.īefore we look into badges that were never released, we need to go all the way back to the roots of badges to gain a brief insight into what they were at the time. Unfortunately, this feature hasn’t seen much growth by Roblox and the overall development of them has been pretty stagnant with very little changes over the years until the Great Badge Refresh which shed new light on some badges that have never made it to the platform to this day. All of the levels are included in this guide here.Ever since their initial debut back in December 2006, Roblox badges have always been a staple of the platform. There are different variations and levels of the Game Collector badge based upon how many games you have purchased. This is something to keep in mind if you are crafting four badges to be displayed in the most recent badge slots on your profile. Free-to-play games and DLCs do not affect this. This will simply keep your hand-picked badges remaining in the most recent four badges, displayed at the top of your profile.Įvery time you purchase a game on Steam, this badge will resurface to be your most recent badge. If you are close to receiving your next Years of Service badge, I recommend crafting your desired badges after that has occurred. If your account is under a year old you will not yet have this badge. You can check the date you joined Steam by viewing this badge here. You can click here as a shortcut to check your progress of the badge.įor the yearly anniversary of when your Steam account was created, you'll receive a different iteration of the Years of Service badge. If not complete, the badge will be called either Pillar of Community or Community Ambassador, depending on the amount of tasks you have already completed. This is obtained by completing all Steam community tasks. I recommend completing the Community Leader badge. Put back the duplicates strategy (Annoying this is still needed) We have indicated some elements in terms of Steve’s Bizarre Adventure that we hope these are useful for any user desire to try this mod.
Human beings are generally oriented toward this kind of throwing style, so it is easier for new and young players to catch up. In fact, underhand pitching is a mechanism that is easier for new players to pick up on and can be considered a more accommodating style. However, the historic patterns of softball are not all that contribute to the underhanded pitching style. This led to a ‘softer’ pitching style, meant to accommodate the needs of an indoor sport. Softball originated as a form of ‘indoor’ baseball and was actually originally referred to using that term. When looking at softball pitching styles, there’s a lot that is reminiscent of the interesting history of the sport. So, if you are intrigued and interested, keep reading our article on this matter! Why softball includes underhand pitching In fact, I’ve got a lot to learn about the ins and outs of the game. It is considered the de facto standard for pitching in women’s softball.Īll in all, there is an interesting history behind the simple underhanded pitch in softball. It creates less strain on the elbow and shoulders, and the motion lends itself best to the bigger shape and size of the softball. Why do women’s softball pitch underhand? Women’s softball pitchers opt for an underhand pitch because this motion is more accommodating to newer players. Traditionally, softball players use an underhand motion to throw the ball – but why? Today, I’m going to answer just that. In fact, the major difference is that of the type of pitch. One of the most notable differences between baseball and softball happens at the moment the ball leaves the pitcher’s hands. Most troubling though is getting the ethanol dose right. Ethanol is irritating to veins and has significant CNS effects. Using ethanol to treat methanol or ethylene glycol poisoning is problematic. Give a 15 mg/kg IV loading dose followed by 10 mg/kg every 12 hours until the blood pH is normal and serum alcohol concentration is less than 20 mg/dL. Two options are available for inhibiting alcohol dehydrogenase and the formation of toxic metabolites:įomepizole is highly effective, has few side effects, is simple to dose, but is expensive. Antidote treatment involves inhibiting alcohol dehydrogenase. If only supportive care is given toxic metabolites will continue to form. In the case of methanol the metabolites also lead to permanent blindness and in the case of ethylene glycol the metabolites also lead to acute kidney injury. However alcohol dehydrogenase converts these alcohols into highly toxic metabolites that lead to hypoxia and metabolic acidosis. Until they are metabolized, methanol and ethylene glycol cause sedation but are otherwise non-toxic. If there is any doubt about whether to end or extend treatment with N-acetylcysteine, I always consult with poison control by calling 1-80 from within the US. Shout out to Pharmacy Student Kaitlin who will be presenting on this topic in the near future! Regardless of which protocol is used, N-acetylcysteine treatment should be extended if the acetaminophen level remains elevated when N-acetylcysteine treatment is scheduled to end. Interestingly, the hepatic first-pass effect brings oral N-acetylcysteine directly to the desired site of action. IV administration does carry a risk of anaphylactoid reaction which is rarely serious. The IV protocol is attractive because it takes less time and avoids the unpleasant taste of oral N-acetylcysteine. Oral N-acetylcysteine has a particularly unpleasant smell & taste which can be masked by mixing with ice, cola, and drinking quickly through a straw. 70 mg/kg orally every four hours for a total of 17 doses. A loading dose of 140 mg/kg orally followed by:Ģ. The 72 hour oral N-acetylcysteine protocol involves:ġ. A loading dose of 150 mg/kg IV over 60 minutes followed by: The 20 hour protocol involves compounding three different bags of N-acetylcysteine for IV infusion:ġ. N-acetylcysteine can be given IV or orally using either a 20 hour or 72 hour protocol. If N-acetylcysteine is given within 10 hours of ingestion of toxic doses of acetaminophen, prognosis is excellent. The antidote for acetaminophen toxicity – N-acetylcysteine (NAC) – restores hepatic glutathione stores, allowing NAPQI to be safely neutralized and preventing hepatic damage. If only supportive care is given, NAPQI will continue to be formed and fulminant hepatic failure and death will ensue. Hepatic glutathione stores eventually deplete and NAPQI begins to damage hepatocytes. This toxic metabolite is readily and safely neutralized by hepatic glutathione before any damage to hepatocytes can occur.Īfter the administration of a toxic dose of acetaminophen (generally considered to be 7.5 g or more in adults), the safe metabolic pathways of sulfation and glucuronidation are saturated, and more of the toxic NAPQI is produced. About 8 % is metabolized via the hepatic cytochrome P450 pathway into the hepatotoxic metabolite N-acetyl-p-benzoquinoneimine (NAPQI). Two common examples are acetaminophen poisoning and methanol or ethylene glycol poisoning.Īt therapeutic doses, most acetaminophen is metabolized via sulfation and glucuronidation into safe metabolites and eliminated in the urine. Most medications, even when taken in overdose, will be safely cleared if a patient’s vital organ systems can be supported long enough.īut some overdose situations require an antidote in addition to supportive care for the the patient to survive. Supportive care is the mainstay of treatment for overdose patients. Compare that to the over 1500 medications that have been approved by the FDA and it is readily apparent that most medications do not have antidotes.
